Warning Description: Flash Flood Watch

Warning Date: 8:41 am CDT on May 16, 2008

WarningSum:...Flash Flood Watch In Effect Until 4 Pm Cdt This Afternoon...

Warning Message:The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued a
* Flash Flood Watch for portions of extreme southwest Alabama and the
western Florida Panhandle...including the following areas...in
southwest Alabama...lower Baldwin and lower Mobile counties. In the
  western Florida Panhandle...Escambia...Okaloosa...and Santa Rosa
  counties.
* Until 4 PM CDT this afternoon
* numerous thunderstorms...most with heavy rain...will persist along
a stalled marine boundary parallel with Interstate 10. The
thunderstorms will move slowly east across the coastal sections
through mid afternoon. 2 to 4 inches of rainfall had already fallen
this morning along and south of the I-10 corridor. Additional
widespread rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible across
the watch area...with some localized areas possibly receiving up to
  5 inches of additional rain.
* The expected slow movement of the storms to repeatedly move over
the same area will result in heavy rainfall and a potential for
  flash flooding.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to
flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You
should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should
flash flood warnings be issued.
